Protection of Young People: Children Act 1989The Enfield Local Child Protection and Safeguarding Young People Board lays down procedures that all schools, colleges and agencies have to follow in cases of suspected abuse of children and young people of 18 years or under. Southgate College has a Child Protection and Vulnerable Adults Policy, a copy of which may be obtained from the College. The designated Child Protection Officer for the College is Angélique Gainza, Vice-Principal (Curriculum), telephone 020 8982 5054.
Security
Southgate College takes student security and safety very seriously. All students are issued with ID cards that must be worn at all times. Our security team regularly patrol the grounds and are supported by Closed Circuit Television (CCTV). We work closely with the local police and community to ensure a safe and secure environment for students.
Equal Opportunities
Southgate College attracts students from a wide range of backgrounds
and cultures. We expect that anyone entering the College will share our
view that all people have a right to an education to meet their particular
needs, in an atmosphere in which individuals are respected. We make
every effort, therefore, to ensure that no one is treated unfavourably on
grounds of race, gender, age or disability. We have an Equal
Opportunities Policy, monitor our enrolments and have firm rules dealing
with racial and sexual harassment and any form of intimidation.
