Asylum Seekers & Refugees

In order to assess your status and process your application, we require photocopies of the following documents. Photocopies can be posted with your application or you can apply online and bring in the original copies for us to photocopy. IF YOU ARE AN ASYLUM SEEKER, PLEASE SEND COPIES OF: • ARC Card (IND Application Registration Card). PLUS • One of the following: a letter from your local council confirming what benefits you are entitled to receive OR a receipt from the Post Office OR a letter from the National Asylum Support Service (NASS). IF YOU ARE A REFUGEE, PLEASE SEND COPIES OF:: • A letter from the Home Office confirming that you may stay in the United Kingdom as a refugee (or, if you are a spouse or child of a person with this status, please send their documents confirming this). OR • A letter from the Home Office confirming that you have been granted leave to remain in the United Kingdom indefinitely (or, if you are a spouse or child of a person with this status, please send their documents confirming this).	OR • A copy of your Travel Document. IF YOU HAVE SETTLED PERMANENTLY IN THE UK, PLEASE SEND COPIES OF: • Your passport — the ID page with your photograph and the page bearing the stamp or vignette confirming that you may now stay in the United Kingdom and that there are no time limits or conditions on your stay here. OR • Letter from the Home Office confirming that you can stay in the UK indefinitely. OR • Other documents confirming permanent residency in the UK (marriage certificate and passport of your British/European citizen spouse. NB You must be married for over 1 year). IF YOU HAVE A WORK PERMIT, VISITOR'S VISA OR A STUDENT VISA, PLEASE SEND COPIES OF: • Your passport — the ID page with your photograph and the page bearing your visa stamp. International Students
Southgate College welcomes International Students from all over the world. Whether you want to improve your English or undertake a vocational course of study, we have a wide variety of courses from which you can choose. All courses are open to International Students providing you can meet the entry requirements. International Students are generally required to pay for their courses and details of the fees are published here. How to apply Please complete the standard Southgate College application online or the form in our prospectus. Please complete all sections of the form as fully as possible. Include any certified copies of certificates for the qualifications you list if you are posting your application. If you are applying online please include your certificates when you post your reference your application or if its All applications should be supported by a reference. Please forward this part of the application form to your chosen referee. Your referee may return it separately to the College.	Please include a sample of your written English on a separate piece of paper so that we can assess the level of your English — the sample could tell us, for example, why you wish to study at Southgate College and what your future ambitions are. Please ensure that this sample is an accurate reflection of your current level of English.
