There are many different types of qualifications open to adult students. The table below outlines the different qualifications and what level they correspond to. Progression isn't linear. You can take many different routes to step up to higher levels. For example with GCSEs you may progress on to BTECs, not just A Levels, or e.g. with an NVQ you may progress to a BTEC. Alternatively, if you are looking to progress to university then you may want to consider our access courses. The route you will take will depend on a number of factors. Each course listed in our course finder will state the level and qualification type to help you in your decision. Southgate College also has trained careers advisers to help you make decisions on the right course for you. Click here to contact them.
You may have qualifications which are not shown here, for example, if you are an International Student. You may also have relevant experience which we could accept for some courses, for example, if you are a mature student (21+). After interview/guidance we may also advise you to study at a higher or lower level.
